this one's a commission i inked over a blueline scan of ron garney's pencils. the original cover was printed straight from the pencils and the collector who bought the original page commissioned a ink job from me. i'm not 100% happy with it (i think i should've been bolder with it, more like a klaus janson would've done), but i think it came out ok.
I don't know. Personally, I think certain styles lend better to the more "invisible inker" approach that you've kind of got going on here. I've followed Garney's work for a while now, and I think you complimented his pencils just right with this. Admittedly, a bolder approach would be neat to see, but this still looks great.

Garney I think is one of those that I really miss seeing him with an inker. There are some pencilers that can do a nice enough job and go tight when they are without an inker. But Garney I feel isn't one of those. And you've proven it by showing just how solid this looks throwin down the india over it.
I prefer the smooth lines you put down here as opposed to the jagged pencil look of the published cover. Some pencillers work well without an inker, some don't. I prefer Garney with an inker. You've both gotten better since you did Uncanny, I'd like to see you two work together again. I'm a sucker for her hair and that smoke. Well done!
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
