batman vs superman by MarkMorales batman vs superman by MarkMorales
this was a commissioned ink job i did over bluelined jim cheung pencils. it was copied onto maybe the worst paper i've ever dealt with (everything that i tried to ink it with seemed to bleed), so i ended up doing 95% of it with micron markers, as opposed to my normal pen nibs and brushes.

Beautiful work as always, Mark.

I did colors for this and I thought I would share it with. Would love to know what you think of it if you have the time.

God damn this is so cool! I think the inks really make it a striking piece. Holy crap. I particularly like how it brings out B's armor.

I've found that some of those blue line printed papers can bleed dreadfully; it's almost as if they expect you to use markers to ink because they can't take anything else on the surface (not enough sizing, I suspect).

But nothing compares to laying down ink with a nib pen. Although I've used the microns (and they are very comfortable and versatile)-I've always been uncomfortable with using a prepackaged brand item for finished art...have you ever messed with the Rotring pens series?

You are a fantastic inker; I really dig your work. This particular piece is a fine example (especially given to sub-par paper). I'm a nib inker myself, but have serious respect for the spectacular brush guys like Farmer, Bair, and yourself. Nice job.

actually, i'm mostly a 99% nib guy. i had to use other stuff on this one because of the crap paper

Wow. That's even more impressive to me - I cannot, for the life of me, make quill look like anything but quill. Anyway, excellent work every time I see it.

OK, I'm going to make confession here, and I guess everybody will think I'm nuts.

I never read the dark knight returns. Somehow I can't enjoy frank miller's artwork. This, on the other hand, will definitely make me read the book. :D

I think that this looks a helluva lot better than Miller's actual artwork from "Dark Knight"

De nada :D

If the file size under Details (below and to the right of the image) is bigger than image size, just look up to the left of the image where you Add to Faves, etc. If they keep the original file available for download (its automatic you have to turn it off when you submit piece if you don't want large files available - its to save artists time in having to shrink their files for posting) it'll show up as Download under the Request For Print option :D

Wow!
I really like Cheung's pencils. So if the paper is beat up, you don't use quills you use Microns?

:iconmarkmorales:

not normally. but like i said, this was strange, horrible, mutant paper. nothing was sticking to it, ink from a brush was bleeding thru it, and my quills were ripping up the paper. so microns, sharpies and a wee bit of brush work on the larger black areas had to be used
